Scriptures: John 3:36; 5:24; Psalms 112:1; Proverbs 3:5; Acts 16:31
A four year old girl hesitates in the branches of a tall tree her father is standing below with his hands stretched, saying “Jump I’ll catch you!” What is it this little girl must do? She must trust her father. The little girl must trust her father. She must believe he can and will catch her. Without trust she will never jump.
The Bible tells us to trust God for salvation. Trust is more than just believing. Trust is placing your very life in what you believe. Another example is if you trust that someone can walk across a deep gorge on a tight rope. Now are you willing to trust that person to carry you across that deep gorge?
God’s definition of trust is exactly this way. Trusting God says that we are willing to place our lives in God and what He says. If we are trusting God we will allow Him to carry us across.
Two questions are asked. Do you have eternal life? Are you trusting in the work god has provided? “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life, and he who does not believe the Son shall not see Life, but the wrath of God abides on him,” (John 3:36).
“Jesus says “most assuredly, I say to you he who hears my word and believes in Him who sent me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life,” (John 5:24). Have you trusted the work Jesus did on the cross?
Have you learned to trust, lean, and acknowledge God?
Proverbs 3:5 says to
- Trust in the Lord with all your heart
- Lean not to your own understanding
- Acknowledge Him in all your ways
And He shall direct your paths.
Two little boys trying to learn to rollerskate. The first asked the other, “What is hard to learn about rollerskating?” The other boy answered, “The ground.” Trusting God maybe simple but it’s very hard to do.
Are you going to be like the little girl that trusts her father to catch her as she jumps from the tree? Are you going to be like the person on the tightrope and allow him to carry you across the deep gorge? Both of these examples require trust in a person to which you are totally dependent on for your safety.
God says you can Trust, Lean, and Acknowledge Him and He will direct your life. Trust Christ Jesus.
