In the old Testament there is a story in the book of Numbers 21:4-9 about a Bronze Snake. In this story the people of God where instructed to look to the Bronze Snake that Moses lifted up on a wooden stick. If they would only obey by looking at the bronze snake held up by Moses they would not die and suffer the effects of the snake bits that was upon them.

Notice why they had the poisonous snakes as a problem. They complained and murmured and got impatient so God sent poisonous snakes among them. Many were bitten and died.

Then the people came to Moses and cried out, “We have sinned by speaking against the Lord and against you.” They cried out for Moses to pray that the snakes would be taken away. Then the Lord told Moses to make a replica(copy) of the poisonous snake and attach it to a wooden stick.

Moses obeyed and made the snake out of bronze and attached it to the top of the stick. Moses instructed them that those who are bittten will live if they simply look at it. Whenever those who were bitten looked at the bronze snake they recovered.

Whoever looked at the bronze snake was healed from their poisonous snake bits. You see the people of God had to believe God’s truth not their own truth. When you believe God you are believing the truth. Beware of half-truth; you may have hold of the wrong half.

Belief sometimes can be hard to do and sometimes it can be easy. The story of one businessman asking another, “Are people believing your advertising and are they getting results?” “It sure is,” replied his business friend. “Last week we advertised for a night watchman. The next night we were robbed.” Believing information is determined by you.

You see the problem God’s people had was with God. Maybe your problems are the direct result of God. Perhaps God is allowing you to experience troubles so that He may reveal more of Himself to you.

God sent the poisonous snakes to Israel. Have you considered the fact your troubles may be because of your own actions and attitudes. What is happening to you may be the direct result of God doing it because your attitude. Are you complaining? Are you murmuring? Are you impatient? Well!

Trust and Believe God. Believe the work He has done through Jesus Christ’s death and burial and ressurrection on the cross. This is God’s truth do you believe it? All you have to do is believe God’s report about Christ. Confess you are a sinner and trust Christ’s work on the cross.

Not a head knowledge but a heart knowledge called faith. Just as all Isreal had to do was look. All you have to do is look to Christ. All you have to do is believe, (Roman 10:13). Well? Do you Believe GOD?

The bronze snake either was a blessing or a cursing. If they looked they were blessed. If they did not look they were cursed. God has placed His Son on the cross for sin, for you to be blessed. The choice is yours. Do you believe God?
