When you think about God, what is the main thing you think about? Although God is merciful, loving, kind, powerful, faithful, and have many other wonderful attributes, He is only described by the angels as Holy . Only one word fully describes God and that word is Holy .God is not described as being merciful, merciful, merciful. He is not described as loving, loving, loving nor faithful, faithful, faithful. He is only described as being Holy, Holy, Holy. The word Holy means perfect, absence of sin and evil. It’s more than sinlessness it’s pure righteousness. It’s His highest level of divine essence (that’s God).

A Sunday School teacher had just concluded a review of the day’s lesson. “And now, children,” she asked, “who can tell me what we must do before we can expect forgiveness of sin?” There was a pause, but finally one little boy spoke up. “Well,” he said, “first we’ve got to sin.”

And that is our problem as humans we got to sin. Sin keeps us from being Holy.Holy is so much of God’s quality that it is said three times by the angels in heaven. Perhaps it’s stated three times because (God) the Father is Holy, (God) the Son is Holy, the (God) Holy Spirit is Holy. In (Isaiah 6:3) “…they sang, Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty.”(Revelation 4:8) “… saying Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty which was and is and is to come.” If we have been born again God asks us to be Holy. “You must be Holy because I the Lord your God am Holy, (Leviticus 19:2; 1 Peter 1:16). God says we are holy because He has made us holy,(Ephesians1:4).

God expects us to say goodbye to our sin, like the question “why is there mistletoe hanging over the baggage counter?” asked the airline passenger during the holiday rush. The clerk replied, “So you can kiss your luggage goodbye.” Well in the same way God wants us to say goodbye to sin.Paul said for us to think clearly and exercise self control.

God wants us to look forward to his return. We should obey God because we are his children. Don’t slip back into the old ways of doing evil because when we where lost we did not know any better.So if you do not have any desire to obey Jesus you have a problem in your heart. Maybe it is because you are not saved but lost. Examine yourself to see if you are a born again Christian, (2 Corinthians 13:5).

Believe in Jesus Christ and His work on the cross for your sin and you will have eternal life, (St. John 3:36).Then you can be and do what God has ask you to do? Be Holy. We must now be holy in everything we do because God chose us to be live holy, (1 Peter 13-15). Now if God says we are to be holy that means we are able to live holy lives.It is very helpful to remember God asked us to be holy. God will never ask us to do something He does not expect us to be able to do.

When we are experiencing trouble and hurting in life we must remember God is not trying to make us happy, He is making us Holy. Would your relatives, friends, and neighbors say that you are a godly living person?

Then be Holy.
