If I came to you and asked you why was the bible written? What would you say? Would you know? Would you be able to tell some one why? Most people can give you an answer, but many times it is not biblical.
So, why was the Bible written? Answer so that we can believe in Jesus Christ. St. John 20:30,31 says, “Many signs truly Jesus did in the presence of His disciples which are not written in this book, but these are written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you might have life through His name.”
The Bible was written so anyone might believe that Jesus is the Christ. The Messiah and Redeemer for the Sins of who ever would believe in Him. Do you believe that He died for your Sins? Do you believe in the Person and work of Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection?
“Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, ….” 1 Corinthians 10:11. The bible was written for us to learn from it, to read about the people’s lives and see the good as well as the bad. God desires
that we learn from their mistakes and also learn from their faith in God.
The Bible is the Word of God. “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto My path”, Psalms 119: 105.The Bible illuminates a powerful bright light source that shows us how to live. When you place the word in your heart then God will light
up your darken heart to shine and show the world God’s righteous light. Paul said that we were once in darkness, but now we are the light of the Lord.
Ephesians 5:8 tells us to live as light. When Jesus lived on the earth, He issued a general call of Salvation to everyone that would listen. He said, “Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I (God) will give you rest,” Matthews
12:28. This verse gives us assurance that if we trust Jesus and His work on the cross we would be rescued from Sin.
Salvation is not something we acquire or earn, but something God does for us freely. When a person receives Christ he also receives the Holy Spirit that enables him or her to shine bright with God’s light. Now think about the moon. The moon has no light of it’s own, it only reflects the light from the sun.
Just like the moon, Christians have no light of their own. They only reflect God’s light. You don’t see people emitting their own reflection glow. The light that Christians give off is a reflection directly from the light of Christ. When Christ was taken back to heaven, He not only left His Spirit, but also left his reflection. That
reflection is you and me!
Most people will never read the Bible, therefore the only bible the world will read is you. If you don’t read and apply the Bible for your self then the Bible will not be read by the lost world. Pray the Bible finds a clear mirror in your life ,so that it may
shine before the world.
The Bible gives us good advise to put into practice such an example is found in the book of Proverbs 3:5,6. It says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and Lean not to your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.” This verse gives us 3 words to practice. Trust, Lean, and Acknowledge.
1). Trust God
2). Lean on God
3). Acknowledge God
–Trust God with your whole heart.
–Lean on God not your own understanding.
–Acknowledge God for your entire Life, & He will
–Direct your path to be straight.
If you don’t know the Bible you might misunderstand the Bible like the little boy. On the first day of Sunday school a teacher finished the lessons and ask for questions. “I’ve got one,” said a boy. “According to the Bible the children of Israel crossed the Red Sea right?” “That is correct,” said the teacher.
“And the Children of Israel defeated the Philistines and the Moabites,” asked the little boy. “That’s right,” agreed the teacher. “So what is your question?” “Well,” asked the little boy, “What were the grown ups doing?”
If you don’t know your Bible, you will make all kinds of mistakes on how God wants you to live. That is why it is very important to know the purpose of the Bible. Can you answer the question, “Why the Bible?”
