The Bible says Christians should be thankful in everything because it’s God’s will, (1 Thess. 5:18). Always give thanks for everything to God through the Lord Jesus, (Ephesians 5:20). The bible teaches us as Christians to be thankful.
Unthankfulness puts up a barrier between God and us. When God is working and doing something on your behalf whether you understand it or not be thankful. When you are not thankful you invite a wall of separation to divide you from God.
In Habakkuk 3:17-18, the prophet was waiting for the Chaldeans to come and destroy his people because of their disobedience to God. Habakkuk said even though there is no fig blossoms, no grapes, no olive crops the flocks die, and cattle barns are empty, I will rejoice with joy in the God of my salvation.
If your thinking and response is not of a thankful nature then you are unthankful. Unthankful people are not operating by faith. They are operating by sight and feelings. Unthankful people are not going to return to God and thank Him for what He is doing.
Luke 17:1-19, is a story about ten lepers where all ten where healed by Jesus, but only one returned to say thank you. This man that returned was a foreigner also. Jesus said, “Did not I heal ten? Where are the other nine?” Only the really thankful come and thank God for what He is doing in their life.
Only saved people come back and thank God for everything. If you are not, perhaps you are not saved. Examine yourself to see if you are saved. Have you trusted the work of Christ on the cross for your sin’? You are not thinking right if you have not accepted Christ.
Many people are unthankful to God, like Whistler’s Mother in her room. Whistler’s son came in to the room and saw his mother out of the chair. Her son said, “Mother you are off your rocker”. A lot of people are unthankful and they are off their rocker. Being unthankful is a sin against God. Are you thankful to God?
