In Luke 6:20-23 Jesus is teaching his disciples when they would really be blessed. Have you ever ask yourself when you are blessed?
” 20 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed [be ye] poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. 21 Blessed [are ye] that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed [are ye] that weep now: for ye shall laugh. 22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you [from their company], and shall reproach [you], and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. 23 Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward [is] great in heaven: for in the like manner
did their fathers unto the prophets. “(KJV)
Blessed are those that suffer because of the Son of man (Jesus Christ). They live in such a way that show they understand and are committed to live for Christ. Blessed means happy are, content are. The text says the word blessed four times, but it implies it seven times.

- Blessed are the mocked v22
- Blessed are the cursed v22
Blessing means willing to trust God and deny self(Luke 9:23). God is always blessing our world, but here we have special blessing to his followers. The greatest blessing come from God to those suffering for his sake. They are applying the KING’s principles here and now in their life. Doing what the King of the Kingdom considers right. They merit blessing from God no matter what’s happening. God says they are blessed. Blessed because of their need to trust the Lord.
Being saved is the main way of assurance that you are blessed. Are you saved? Can you be identified as blessed? Do you think that when they asked George Washington for ID that he just whipped out a quarter? Proof is not always easy.
Trusting what Jesus Christ did on the cross for your sin, is the right start. Your understanding of God’s Word will never take place until you get saved. If you are saved then God will reward you for taking a stand for His sake. Commitment shown now, merit happiness and being Blessed forever.
