As I read my Bible I have learned there are only two kind of people. They are surrenders or pretenders. Some surrender to the Lord and others are pretenders with the Lord. As you read this article, ask yourself am I a surrender or am I a pretender?
There are some people that have given their life to God. They have given their whole heart to the Lord without keeping anything from Him. These kind of people are completely surrendered to God. They obey and trust Him for everything.
Many people put on a front like they live for God. They act like they are living for God but really they are living for themselves. They speak and try to make it appear as if they walk and talk with God daily but they are pretenders.
Jesus in Matthew 21:28-30a told a parable about two sons that a Father asks his sons, “to go work today in His vineyard.” We see both sons response to the father. One obeyed and went, he surrendered. The other said he would but didn’t go, he pretended.
Everyone will either be a person that surrenders or a person that is a pretender. God says that every human is born a sinner. Romans 3: 10-12, “There is none righteous no not one: ….. there is none that does good, no not one.”
Anyone that automatically thinks that they are right with God is deceiving themselves and are pretenders.
The bible says that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, (Romans 3:23). The only way to be right with God is to agree with Him and surrender to Him.
The son that said he would obey but didn’t represents the person that has not surrendered to God. They say they want to do God’s will but they constantly disobey Him. They are phony pretenders and their hearts are far from Him.
The best thing is to simply agree with Him that they are rebelling against Him from the heart. Accepting God’s provision of Jesus Christ on the cross for their sin will lead them to being a surrender to God.
Note that there are two sons, two statements and two selections.
- Two Sons
- Two Statements
- Two Selections
1. Two Sons
*Ask yourself are you rightly related to God? Are you in the Family? Am I a born again son?
2. Two Statements
*Ask yourself, what am I saying in my statement to God’s request? Will my statement be testimony against me?
3. Two Selections
*Ask yourself, what choices am I making? Am I selecting rightly for God?
Just because you are in the human family does not mean that you are rightly related to God.
Like the little four year old that bought his puppy to visit his grandmother.
She was busy fixing dinner and paid no attention to the pup. After a while the boy’s eyes where filled with tears, asked her: “Aren’t you even going to speak to your granddog?”
As you read this article, Ask yourself which type of person am I? Am I the pretender or am I the surrender? You will be one or the other?
