Does your convictions line up with God’s view of things. Is what you think and believe in line with God’s ways? A Conviction is defined to be a strong belief that reflect your values, commitments, and motivations. What you believe and do are your convictions.
Any person without convictions will be at the mercy of circumstance. If you don’t determine what is important and how you will live other people will determine it for you. Anyone that does not have convictions will easily follow the crowd.
Churches must teach biblical convictions that reflect god’s ways. Teaching them to
counter the secular values that constantly come at them. The old saying, “If you
don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything.”
As you grow in your Christian journey you must develop your reasons for doing what you do. Godly convictions are essential for maturity. Jesus has saved us to let His life be lived through us. He wants us to change our world so heaven might be seen. Without his compelling conviction we can not live for His purpose.
If an unknown person came to your door offering to help you solve your problems, would you believe them? Would you place your trust in them without any proof of their ability and trust worthiness? Answer, probably not.
Why then do so many people listen to any and everyone but God. The only One that made them and knows them better than they know themselves. Just think convictions are working best when they come from our creator.
God is greater than any circumstance, any person, or any power. He has ultimate
authority over every living thing. He can heal your pain. He can remove the bonds of any grip Sin can have on your life. He can create victories from any devastation.
Are you trusting Him? Are you getting to know Him? Are you seeking to know how He would like things done? Anyone that is not willing to take a stand for God obviously have not come to know Him or His ultimate authority over everything.
Taking a stand for God is always the right response and answer. Like the answer I gave a vistor from Canada. Being a longtime Three Stooges fan, I was wearing a T-shirt with a picture of Larry, Moe, and Curly on the front. After asking me for the time, the man noticed the three faces on the T-shirt.
“How nice,” he commented “Is that your family.” Realizing he was trying to be funny, I simply nodded and smiled. Then I said, “Yea sure certainly, yuck yuck yuck.” Answering God is always best by taking a firm stand for Him. The bible says any one that puts their trust in Him will not be disappointed (Romans 9:33;10:11).
Doing what we want instead of what God the Father wants reminds me of this
illustration. A mother’s returns to a photo studio to view her one year old son’s
pictures. The photographer started describing each photo, but as he went through them, he spoke so quickly that the mother couldn’t get a word in.
Finally after she saw all 20 poses, he asked which ones, was she most interested in?
“None, ” she replied. “This isn’t my child.” And that is the way it is with salvation it is not our work that God wants it is His work on the Cross.
Have you settle that issue with God concerning your Sin? If you have not, then you
cannot possible have God’s righteous conviction guiding you to know when to take a stand. Get your soul right with God by trusting his Son’s death, burial, and resurrection for Sin. Then your convictions can stand for God.
