If I came to you and asked you what Sin is? What would you say? Would your answer be biblical? Would your answer be in line with what God says? What would you say is Sin?
1 John 3:4 – “Who ever commits Sin transgresses also the law; for Sin is the transgression of the law.” Every person that practices sin practices lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. Lawlessness and transgressions can be defined as anything that is against God.
The bible says that all unrighteousness is Sin (1 John 5:17). God is righteous and
everything that is not of Him is unrighteous. That which is not of faith in God, is a Sin. James 4:17 – “Therefore, to Him that knows to do good, and does it not, to him it is Sin.”
Another passage that points that leak of faith is a Sin can be found in Romans 14:23. “The person that doubts is damned (condemned) if they eat, because they eat not in faith; for what ever is not of faith is a Sin.” Anything that is done without faith in God is a Sin.
Every person must realize that they are in Sin. Their thinking and actions are against God and His ways. Until that person understands this, they can never be right with God. Are you right with God? Could it be that you are that person? Could it be that you have not settle your sin nature with God?
The bible says anyone that has been forgiven of Sin is blessed. Have you been forgiven of your Sin? If I where you I would not take any chances? You need to be certain that your Sin will not be held against you. Don’t take to long, God is waiting on your response.
“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is
the man unto whom the Lord imputs not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no
guile.” (Psalms 32:1,2). How blessed is the person who is forgiven of their sins and their sins are covered? How blessed is the person that God stops passing Adams sin
nature? Their spirit has been cleaned up and no form of deceit is found in them.
For a person not to accept the fact that they are a sinner in God’s sight is to make an unacceptable accuse. Like the little girl that had the perfect alibi. A father took his two children to the fair, and each of them won a chameleon.
After a few weeks one of the reptiles died. Thinking it would be a good opportunity to teach them about responsibility the father said to the kids, “You know it probably died of neglect. Don’t blame me, Dad.” One of his daughters said quickly, “I never touched them.”
And that is the same way with us and sin. If we don’t acknowledge our sinfulness to
God, God will not allow His Son’s death, burial and resurrection to be our substitute. We must first admit that we are sinners and fighting against Him.
Our sinful heart need His provision on the cross to be restored back to God. Sin is
that inward rebellion of the heart and mind that does not won’t to submit to God. Has anyone you know ever had lessons on committing sins. Have they ever had any courses on lying or coveting?
Why because it is a automatic response that needs no lessens to be taught. We are all born with this sinful nature. It is passed down to us by our parents and grand parents.
Doing what we want instead of what God the Father wants reminds me of this
illustration. A mother’s returns to a photo studio to view her one year old son’s
pictures. The photographer started describing each photo, but as he went through them, he spoke so quickly that the mother couldn’t get a word in.
Finally after she saw all 20 poses, he asked which ones, was she most interested in?
“None, ” she replied. “This isn’t my child.” And that is the way it is with salvation it is not our work that God wants it is His work on the Cross.
Without the redemption provided by Christ on the cross there would be no forgiveness of our Sin. Sin has separated us from our Holy God. Listen to what God the Father has said about His only begotten Son (Jesus Christ) and trust Him for your Sin.
