Missing the mark is defined as a failure to meet God’s divine standard. Everyone that is born is self-willed and is against God’s divine authority. Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

No person has to be taught to sin, they know how to do it automatically when they are born. God is saying from the Bible that everyone is born short of His Holy standard. Everyone comes into this world with a nature to do wrong.

If you have been born again you need to continually remember that you have a tendency to keep missing God’s Mark. Remember that you fall short of the glory of God. Just think that if it is not God’s way then it will automatically fall short of His glory.

Ask yourself when you get ready to do something, “Is this going to Miss God’s Mark?” When I speak to others, “Am I missing the mark?” When I go to this place, “Am I missing the mark?” When I behave this way, “Am I missing the mark?”

Paying attention to what we do is not only the important thing. What we think on the inside is also important. If your thoughts are wrong then your actions will be wrong. Is your thinking missing the mark?

I remember taking an archery course in school and learning how to release the arrow when shooting at the target. Shooting at the target outside was different from shooting at the target on the inside. Outside there were wind conditions that needed to be considered.

The wind would always effect the shoot and cause the arrow to miss it’s target. God says that without Him the wind of sin will always keep you from hitting the target. You will fall short and miss the mark. Romans 3:9-24, tells us that there is none righteous and all come short.

The only way to be right with God and not miss the mark is to accept God’s work through Jesus Christ. The only way is to trust Christ work on the cross for your sin. His work will restore anyone that would believe and make them right with God. Correcting our position with God for all eternity.

Our position being corrected reminds me of this illustration:
A doctor that was a chiropractor worked on a man’s back. The doctor was a specialist and fixed the spine to his back correctly. The doctor fixed the man’s back. The man stands corrected.

Are you missing the mark? Realizing that your sinful nature has already caused you to miss God’s Mark is the first step to getting help. Until you realize that you have missed it you are destined for eternal punishment.
“Are you missing the mark?”
