Now this is the record/(testimony) of [Place your name here]. What would you say about your self? How would you describe your self? What would your mean purpose be?
A testimony is record or witness to evidence a matter, it is a declaration to prove a fact or truth. It is evidence of and a witness to a situation, an event, a thing, or a person. In St. John 1:19 there is a testimony of John the Baptist. The Priest and Levites come from Jerusalem to ask Him, “Who are you?”
Every Christian must ask themselves this question, “Who am I?” They must answer it with the truth about themselves. Can you answer the question, “Who are you?” Think about your answer.
No, I did not ask what you do for a living or job, I asked “Who are you?” No, I did not ask who your family or relatives are? Who are you? No, I did not ask what you own or possess? I asked, “Who are you?”
Can you give an accurate answer to God and your self about who you are? There is a much needed answer that was asked by the Pharisees and Levites to John the Baptist. They asked, “What do you say about yourself?
Your record or testimony will only began when you ask your self this question. Now this is the testimony of [Place your name here]. In St. John 1:19-28, there is a process that we can learn about our own self assessment.
We can learn more about our own eternal value to Christ. First John answer’s concerning his position with Christ. We need to assess our position with Christ. Second, he answers concerning himself whether he was for or against Christ. Thirdly he explained what he was doing because of his relationship with Christ.
Your testimony will depend on these three questions.
1). Who are you? v20 (Know yourself)
2). Who is Jesus? v22(Know God)
3). What are you doing? v23(know what to do)
Knowing yourself, knowing God, and knowing what to do will help you find what God’s purpose is in your life. Discovering yourself, God, and actions of what to do will lead to knowing your purpose in life. Your testimony therefore will have more Godliness.
Some of us don’t want a good testimony and don’t want to change like the man with foot pain. Every time he ate his favorite food, chitlins, his foot pained him a lot. The family doctor confirmed his suspicion of pork-induced gout.
When he returned home from the doctor’s office his wife asked him how the visit had gone. The man plopped down on the sofa, kicked off his shoes and replied, “The doctor said I’m going to have gout three times a week.” And that is the way a lot of our testimonies are because we don’t want to change for God.
Your life is a testimony to what you believe. How you live is the record about your faith and what you are trusting? Do you know your purpose?
In order to have a testimony that God honors, you have to be in Christ. Are you in Christ? Are you trusting the work He did on the cross when He died for Sin? The bible says Christ died, was buried, and was resurrected on the third day, do you believe this?
Your testimony is worthless to God if it is not in Christ? What is Your Testimony?
