The word Hell comes from the Greek, “Gehenna.” Gehenna originally referred to the valley of Hinnom, which is south of Jerusalem. It is where the city’s trash and dead animals were dumped and burned. It became a symbol of the place of future punishment.
Most people never think about what happens after they die. Jesus spoke more about hell than any other person. The bible describes hell as a place of torment in
Luke 16:28. In Revelation 20:10 it is called “the lake of fire and brimstone.”
Hell is described as a place where, “there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth” and “the fire is not quenched” in Mark 9:48. Hell was created for the devil and his angels in Matthews 25:41. Godless people will also end up there, Luke 16:22-31.
Jesus warned the religious and His followers about hell. Jesus knowing their need offers eternal life as a free gift of God’s grace. If you break God’s commandment Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount you, “will be in danger of hell fire.” (Matt. 5:21,22)
Several warnings by Jesus are found in Matthews 18, verse 1 He asked, “Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?” Answer in verse 3, He placed a little child in their midst and warned them, “Truly I say unto you, Except you be converted, and become as a little child, you will not enter the Kingdom of heaven.”
Jesus was warning them and us that unless a person deals with their sin, they will face God’s Holy wrath of Hell. Praise to the Father for providing His Son as the Atonement for sin if, they would only trust what Christ did on the cross.
John 5:12 says, “He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.” The question is “Do you have eternal life? If you have the eternal life of Christ you will not have to face a eternal Hell.
There was a clockmaker and his grandson trying to learn how to tell time by the chimes of a grandfather clock. The grandfather asked his grandson when the clock chimed four times what time it was? The boy said, “four o’clock.” The clock chimed again seven times. The boy responded, “Seven o’clock. The grandfather chimed the old clock this time thirteen times. The grandson listened and counted the chimes and then hesitated. The grandfather asked him, “what time as it?” The grandson said, “I am not sure, but it is later then it has ever been before!”
My friends if you don’t know Jesus and the pardoning of your sin, it is later then it’s ever been before. Time is running out. There is a hell whether you believe it or not. The question is are you prepared to know for sure that there is a hell?
Jesus made it clear that it exists. No one can enter heaven accept through Christ, (John 14:6). Remember that it was created for the devil and his angels and the
godless people. Jesus has warned you again through this article, now it is up to you? The clock is ticking!
