What
is Love? Love defined by the dictionary means strong affections towards another, it is unselfish loyalty and a high concern for another. Scripture says Love is to obey God and keep his commands. St. John 14:15 ,”If you love me, keep my commandments.” To do what God wants is to demonstrate you love Him.

The lord’s commands appear to be hard but in reality they are easy, Jesus said in Matthew 11:30, “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” The Bible tells us to love God with all our mind, soul and strength, (Deut. 5:6:10:12; Matthews 22:37).

Love God with:

  1. Your Heart
  2. Your Soul
  3. Your Mind

Ask yourself am I loving God with all my mind, soul, and strength? When you answer this question note how you respond, because it will let you know if you
love God and how much? Love begans with your concern for the person , that you say you love.

You cannot say that you are loving someone unless you have a concern for them. And this is real love for God, that you live with a desire to obey His commandments. This is getting down into shoe leather. This is getting right down where the rubber meets the road. What is your desire when God ask you to do something? This is the commandment that we should believe on the name of His Son, Jesus Christ and love one another, as He has said in 1 John 3:23.

If we desire to please God we will love others. Proof of our love for God and his son Jesus Christ is in obeying Christ. Are you loving others? If it’s yes then the final result is seen through a pure heart. “Now the end of the commandment is love, out of a pure heart….”(1 Timothy 1:5).

Maybe your heart is not as pure as you think. The only sure way to have a pure heart is to confess your sin to God and ask Him for forgiveness, (Romans 10:9,10). Believe in your heart that the work Christ did on the cross for your Sin and recieve Christ as your Saviour. When you are saved you will have a strong desire to obey Christ’s commands.

Love can be said like a kiss. A kiss is a peculiar proposition – of no use to one, yet absolute bliss to two. The small boy gets it for nothing, the young man has to lie for it, and the old man has to buy it. It is the baby’s right, the lovers privilege, and the hypocrite’s mask. To a young girl, it shows faith: to a married woman, hope; and to an old maid, charity.

Is there proof of love in your life? The final proof or end is to love others which will show obedience to Christ’s commands. Every one will see our love and know we are disciples of Christ by the love we show. ” By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another,” St. John 13:35.

Jesus said, “This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you,” St. John 15:12. If you understand that God loves you, then you should love
others. If you do not love others, then maybe you don’t understand the love God has for you.

Complete understanding of God’s love and His work on the cross for you will result in loving others.

Our response to God’s love is sometimes like a married couple. “Every time I ask you something,” the angered husband said to his wife, “you answer all my questions with another question. Why?” “Do I really do that?” the wife replied. And that’s the way we respond to God’s questions.

Matthew 22:37, gives us a command given by the lord, to those that are his and are listening to Him. Are you listening to the Lord? Believers are instructed by the Lord Jesus Christ to love one another. The question is, Are you obeying Him? Why not? Do you really love God? Who do you love?
