What is the Gospel? The Gospel comes from the greek word euangelion meaning good tidings or good news. What is this good news? It is the message based on the truth that God has provided a way of salvation for sin through the gift of His Son.

It is the news about the only person who can cleanse and forgive anyone of their sin. Sinners that are worthy of God’s wrath are saved and redeemed. It is simply that Jesus Christ paid the price for sin on the cross with His blood. That’s good news!

This Gospel has four points taken from 1 Corinthians 15:1-8. All of it focus around the person of Jesus Christ. He is all God and all man.

  1. Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures.
  2. He was buried
  3. He Rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
  4. He was seen by many dependable witnesses.

Jesus died , was buried , rose , and was seen .

Be careful of other gospels. If any gospel consist of doing anything to earn salvation then that is another gospel. A sinner that is lost and is sin-sick can do nothing to earn salvation. No unholy person can do nothing to make them self acceptable to a Holy God.

Any person that is doing anything to be saved is trusting another gospel. Any human work mixed with the holy work of Christ will pollute the power of God and neutralize it. Solos Gratus, meaning Grace Alone is the only way God saves. Faith plus nothing else, is the only way God saves. It is foolish to think you can help God save yourself. Faith alone is the only way God will save, Rom.1:7; 1 Cor. 1:2-4.

In Galations 1:6-9, Paul wrote to the church and said He was surprised that the believers had started believing and trusting other ways of being saved, other then by grace. Paul calls this another gospel.

Paul says even if he or an angel come to them and preaches any other gospel other than that which was taught to them, let them be accursed. The only proof of the gospel is grace and faith. Anything mingled with it is another gospel.

Are you trusting the Gospel? Or are you trusting another Gospel? Are you sure you are trusting in God’s provision and not some other provision? In St. John 6:47 Jesus said, “Verily verily, I say unto you , He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”

Are you sure that you have eternal life? The bible says that the person that has the Son Jesus Christ has eternal life and the person that does not have the Son does not have eternal life, see 1 John 5:11,12. Be sure that you believe in the finish work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Many people fail to believe in Christ because they will not make a decision for Him. Like the hunter that was being given a ticket and fined by the game warden for killing a grizzly bear.

The game warden told the hunter, “This bear was on the endangered species list.” The hunter’s response, “When it came to killing that bear, I had no problem making a decision on who was about to be on the endangered species list, him or me.”

When it comes to eternity, each person must make a decision for themselves who Christ is to them. The Gospel is Good News about Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection to whoever would believe in Him. The Gospel saves, the question is do you believe it? What is your response to the Gospel?
