Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord.” Most of God’s greatest servants had to learn to wait on His timing. When we think of waiting, we often think of having to put on hold what we want immediately.
Paul wanted to take the Gospel into Macedonia, but the Holy Spirit blocked him from entering that region. (Acts 16:9-10) We are never given the reason why God blocked Paul. However, we do know that years later, he did preach in parts of this
region and saw many come to Christ.
Waiting takes patience and patience can only come from God. God knows exactly where and when you need to do what He has called you to do. He knows when it
is right for you to move forward in a given area.
Getting ahead of Him only leads to frustration and fear. One of the ways we do move ahead of God is in rushing to meet our own needs. Learn to be patient and
wait on God’s timing. His goodness is worth the additional time that He may require of you.
When you rush ahead of God, you miss all the challenges and blessings He places along your path. You can wait and be blessed or move ahead of Him and risk disappointment. If you feel as though you already have gotten ahead of God, go
immediately to Him in prayer.
Confess your lack of trust. Ask Him to forgive you and encourage you in the way you should go from this point on. Wait on God. These ideas this week have been
taken from Charles Stanley’s Spiritual Foundations C.D.. They were a blessing to me so I shared them with you, my readers.
Hesitating and not waiting is like the manager of a fitness gym that was talking to a old man. The older man came in one day wanted to try one of the ellipitical machines. The manager was concern that he might fall.
So the manager said, “Put your foot on the lower pedal and get on it like a horse.” The older man hesitated and waited. Then he said, “A horse would never try to get on one of these.”
So many people are impatient and just can not wait on God. You have to always remember that you can not live the Christian life on your own. Anytime anyone
does anything without God, it is considered a failure no matter how successful it may appear to the world (St. John 15:5).
Ask yourself am I doing this or is Christ doing it? If it is you doing it then it’s bound for failure. If it is Christ doing it through you then it will always be a success. Isaiah 40:31 says, “Those who wait up on the Lord will gain new strength.” Are you waiting on God?
