Exodus 20:1-4

  1. Then God spoke all these words saying,
  2. “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
  3. “You shall have no other gods before Me.
  4. “You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.

John 4:20-24

  1. “Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you people say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.”
  2. Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.
  3. “You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews.
  4. “But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.
  5. “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth”.
