In Genesis 22, Abraham is tested. God speaks and does not stutter. He commands
Abraham to, “take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love…and offer him there for a burnt-offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell you of”. God says, I want Isaac on the altar. Offer him up as a burn offering. The Hebrew word is Olah means, “a whole burnt offering”.

What is remarkable to me, there is not any argument from Abraham? Offering his son as the burnt offering was to be his obedience to God. Obeying God’s command was the sacrifice God that excepted. Offering a burnt offering was a form of worship for Abraham and the nation of Israel which were to come through him. Obeying God through Jesus is also our way of worshipping Him.

Are you like Abraham? Are you worshipping God by obedience? Are you obeying His only provision by trusting Christ Jesus’s work on the cross? Obeying God is obeying the work He has given to every boy, girl, woman, and man. Worshipping God is doing like Abraham did, obeying Him(God).

Are you offering God your worship? Or are you offering God His worship? Abraham built altars to the Lord where ever he went. In Shechem, in Bethel and where ever he was throughout his life He built altars and worship God, (Genesis 12:7,8).

Building altars and worshipping was a mark of Abraham’s walk with God. Do you have a regular meeting place with God? Worship is God-centered. Worship is God focused. In worship God reveals more of Himself.

Obeying God and His word can be like this discussion. “How do you like the new
minister?” a customer asked one of the town merchants. “I haven’t heard him
preach, but I like him fine,” said the merchant. “How can you like him if you
haven’t heard him?” The merchant said, “I know that he is good, because everyone
is beginning to pay off their bills.”

Be like Abraham by obeying God. On the way to the mountain to perform sacrifice, Isaac says, “Father we have got the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb? Where is the sacrifice?” Abraham answer’s in a wonderful way by saying; “God will provide, my son… God will provide the sacrifice.”

When you are obeying God do you doubt God and his commands to you? Sometimes it is hard to see why God ask us to do some things. Yet we should obey Him any way. God is not like us. His ways are higher than our ways. God has a plan and purpose much deeper then we could ever understand, let alone figure out.

That is why it takes faith. God says to us just like He said to Abraham, trust and obey by faith. When you obey me(God) then you are worshipping me. Simply doing what God command’s you to do is pleasing in his sight. Total obedience is worship. What is it in your life that is all important that keeps you from trusting God completely.

Well, whatever it is God has a bull’s-eye on it. For Abraham it was Isaac his only son. What is it for you? Obeying Christ is God’s will for every believer’s life. Are you
obeying Him? Obeying Christ is worshipping God. Are you worshipping God by obedience? One of the basic things of being blessed as a christian is obeying God.

Obeying God is exercising that faith you say you have. Hebrews 11:6, “without Faith it is impossible to please Him(God).” Faith is doing, James 1:22, “Be doers of the word and not hearers only deceiving your own selves”.

The Word(Genesis 22:1,2) leads to God’s Work(Genesis 22:3-12) which leads to Worship(Genesis 22:13-19). Jesus said in St. John 14:15,21,23 “If you love me, Keep my commandments.” The word(scriptures) is given by God if we want to please God then we need to obey what the word says. When we obey then it becomes the work, showing Christ’s character to the world. Doing what God wants then leads to worship. Worship is thanks and praise to God for what God has done in our life.

Worship is living for Him. If you are not living for Him then perhaps you are not
saved. Maybe you are not really born again. Then you must be born-again and you cannot enter God’s kingdom except you are born again, (St. John 3:1-18).

If you are saved and are still disobeying God then you don’t understand what is taking place. It’s a privilege to obey God. It is a special right extended to you by God to ask you to do something personally for Him.

Now if the President or some famous celebrity came by your home and ask you to do them a favor wouldn’t you consider doing it without hesitation, considering the request was not unlawful. Maybe they would like to use your phone or give them a ride to get gas or borrow the use of your coat.

If the president or a famous celebrity can get you to do some request, how much more should we consider God’s commands. It is a wonderful privilege to do what God ask you to do? Have you ever thought of it as a privilege to be asked by God to do something for Him.

It is a real witness for God when a Christian lives for Him. It is easy to be a witness
in church, when the preacher ask for a witness. In the church there will not be any
condemnation, nor any one going against you or some one saying you are fanatical. But when you leave the church are you willing to be a witness for Christ in how you live?

Witnessing to the world is living a godly life before the them. If you are witnessing
for God you will be found obeying God’s Son because you have been pardon for your sin. Obeying God’s Word(Luke 5:3,4) leads to doing God’s Work(Luke5:5,6)
and that will cause you to give God his Worship(Luke5:6-11). Obeying God is
Worship.
